The design duo Latin SistersAfter worked for over a year in a project of producing design objects out of recycle material. The communities they specially worked with were women and children from the area of Ten Kate Market, a neighbourhood with a strong multicultural character. The opportunity of presenting the results of the workshops came from an event created by the ELLE Decor Magazine. This is how the event 'Von Recycling tot Redesign' (from recycling to redesign) took place in de Hallen, the old building conceived as Storage and workshops for the trams. The empty buildings at the moment were use only as storage for TV and Theater production. The design I did for the temporary exhibition basically was to reuse some furniture borrowed from the storage in contrast with two elements: a quiet and condense white volume and and orange wall. The two elements were meant to be easy to storage afterwards and reuse in another location. The elements wre a frame for the small objects framing them to make it easier to locate in the vast building. Next to the exhibition workshops and talks took place for the local communities. Finally and a closing party took place with a music mixed by a DJ from sounds recorded from garbage beats.
