Landmark

Landmark is an ongoing series of site-specific interventions using the red-and-white barrier tape commonly associated with construction sites, accidents and areas under transformation.

By introducing this familiar material into architectural and urban contexts, the work temporarily places sites into a state of suspension. Existing structures become thresholds where different temporalities, memories and narratives overlap. Rather than marking exclusion, the tape functions as a device for revealing places undergoing physical, social, political or symbolic change.

Each iteration responds to a specific location and its histories. Developed in contexts ranging from former military fortifications and public institutions to exhibition spaces and urban landscapes, Landmark investigates how collective memory becomes embedded within architecture and territory. The interventions draw attention to moments when societies renegotiate their relationship to the past and when places exist between disappearance and reinvention.

Conceived as an evolving body of work, Landmark approaches the city and the built environment as living archives, where visible and invisible boundaries continuously shape our understanding of history, identity and belonging.
