Mercado campesino
Arusí, Colombia
Mercado Campesino was developed by CC_Berlin together with women from the Afro-Colombian community of Arusí on Colombia’s Pacific coast. Through participatory design workshops, the project created a space for discussing territory, cultural memory and community development from a gender-sensitive perspective.
The process culminated in the collective construction of a rural market using local building techniques. More than a commercial space, the market functions as a place for exchange, gathering and the transmission of knowledge, supporting women-led initiatives while strengthening community networks and local forms of self-organization.
