The sculpture consists of an old wooden chair delicately holding a row of soap bars against a wall. The soaps were collected between 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when washing hands became one of the few available forms of protection.
Originally assembled as a daily record of time passing during periods of social isolation, the collected soaps were later transformed into this sculpture. Their gradual accumulation preserves the rhythm of an extended period of uncertainty, confinement and waiting.
The chair rests on an additional bar of soap, creating a fragile equilibrium. The entire structure depends on the very material that once symbolised protection, turning an ordinary domestic object into a precarious support.
