Wayúu Columns
Developed together with members of the Wayúu community as an intervention within one of the buildings they collectively inhabit and use. From the beginning, the project was carried out in collaboration with local artists, who participated in both the development of the stencil patterns and their application throughout the building.
The stencil designs were created from geometric motifs traditionally found in Wayúu visual culture and adapted for repeated use on architectural elements including columns, walls and other surfaces within the building.
Following the initial intervention, community members continued using the stencils independently, gradually extending the patterns to new parts of the building. The work therefore remains unfinished, growing through everyday use rather than through the completion of a predetermined design.
