Weaving Together What Is Still Becoming

Developed for the gallery’s 50th anniversary exhibition, the exhibition design approached the institution as part of a wider territory connecting the city of Ustka, its community, the Baltic Sea and the histories embedded within its landscape.

The intervention began with the colour of the walls, moving away from the conventions of the white cube. Inspired by the pink-purple tones that occasionally appear on Ustka's beaches after storms, when sediments are deposited along the shore, the colour established a visual connection between the exhibition and its surrounding environment.

A flexible seating system was developed to accommodate performances, workshops, talks and listening sessions. Designed for continuous reconfiguration, the furniture remains part of the gallery's infrastructure and can be reused in future programmes across its spaces in Ustka and Słupsk.

The intervention continued through the building with a series of coloured transparencies installed in circulation areas. Rather than separating exhibition rooms from corridors, these elements connected different floors and encouraged visitors to experience the gallery as a continuous spatial environment.
