Viktoria install/ Viktoria sculpture at Mehringdplatz

La Belle Alliance show

Curated by: Maren Strack, Frederic Schröder, Stephan Mörsch

Mehringplatz, one of Berlin's most iconic squares, has a column supporting the statue of the Greek goddess Viktoria, one of the few surviving pieces of the 1945 bombing. The statue was removed during the refurbishment work on the fountain and the square, leaving a feeling of emptiness among its inhabitants. The proposal consisted of bringing back to the neighbourhood the image on the mesh that exists in a nearby playground using the bottle caps that are usually found in large amounts on the floor.
