Value Magnifiers

Value Magnifiers brings together pencil drawings based on details taken from banknotes from different countries. Portraits, animals, monuments, landscapes and symbolic motifs are redrawn directly onto the wall, detached from their original currencies and placed within a shared visual field.

Glass vessels filled with water are positioned in front of the drawings. Acting as simple optical devices, they magnify fragments of the images while simultaneously reflecting neighbouring drawings. As visitors move through the space, the reflections shift continuously, creating new relationships between images that originally belonged to different banknotes.

Separated from their national currencies, political figures, scientists, animals, buildings and landscapes appear side by side. The installation allows symbols that once represented individual nations to coexist within a common visual space, where new associations emerge through proximity, reflection and movement.
